Installing VMplayer 6.0.3 on Slackware 14.1.
No change with release 6.0.3. Exactly the same scenario as with 6.0.2 and 5.0.2. Prompted to update. Looks impressive as the download goes through the install procedure and terminates with "unsuccessful".
Well now I’m an old hand at this just got to follow my my own notes. Downloaded the VMplayer 6.0.3 bundle, make it executable and run it with the --monitor and --ignore-errors options.
file VMware-Player-6.0.3-1895310.x86_64.bundle VMware-Player-6.0.3-1895310.x86_64.bundle: data sudo bash chmod 755 VMware-Player-6.0.3-1895310.x86_64.bundle --ignore-errors
So this time I really did try an alternative with VirtualBox. The irritation of not being able to install a 64bit windows OS turned swiftly to total disillusionment when I started hitting permissions problems while trying to install XP from the CD. Decided that maybe VMplayer is the best option for me anyway as, once running, at least I get my virtual PC back and can crack on to use the months of accumulated configs that allow me to support my poor deluded Window clients.
